Crataegus phaenopyrum - Growth to 25 feet. Small tree with pendulous branches, dark green, shiny leaves. Black berries in September to October that persist throughout winter and are eaten by songbirds, such as Cedar Waxwings, also ruffed grouse and fox sparrow.
